Week 3: G.Q.Q.S.L
Readers workshop
Eighth Grade Dues
HW RJ Inside Out and Back Again P235-260
First, Ms. Nakada had us open our English notebooks and look at the Line "No one leaves home unless home is the mouth of a shark" by Warsan Shire.
We listened to the poem "Home" about leaving where you're from because of war or other tragedies to go somewhere safer for you and how terrifying it can be. They sometimes get mistreated and discriminated upon.
Then, we opened Inside Out and Back Again and talked about how Ha used her words instead of her fists. Then, we read about Ha and how her brother Vu planned to get her out of the fight which doesn't work at first, but works out in the end.
